Our role:

Movement Strategies was engaged by Capita, the scheme engineers, to provide pedestrian planning advice for all planned stations on the new Dubai Metro.

The initial task was to determine station sizing. Subsequently, it was necessary for us to develop and agree design standards for normal operation and emergency procedures for all stations, enabling capacity assessments to be undertaken on the emerging designs.

As the project progressed it was necessary to determine the design and cost implications for the project including stations and rolling stock of a revised forecast with increased demand and new stations.

Finally more detailed station design advice for all stations was also provided, using a variety of approaches, including STEPS pedestrian simulation.
