Our role:

The Ministry of Sound in London is one of the world’s leading nightclubs, with up to 2,000 visitors per night.

To enter the club all visitors have to go through a security check and buy a ticket. On its busiest nights there were queues and delays.

Movement Strategies were asked to recommend ways to reduce queuing, making it more likely people would return, improving both the visitor experience and the club's reputation. This included changes to the layout of the entry to the club as well as operational measures.

What we brought to the project:

Transaction data supplied by the club, and supplemented by site visits, enabled our consultants to understand the patterns of demand and to identify the bottlenecks in the existing system.

We generated a wide range of options for reducing queues were generated, and measured against a number of criteria, including operational and financial considerations before selecting a preferred option.

Simple dynamic simulations of the current and recommended arrangements were produced, and the relative performance levels compared. This indicated the scale of the benefits to the club as a result of increased throughput and to their customers through reduced delay, to help the Club make its investment decisions.
