Olympic Delivery Authority
Client: Olympic Delivery Authority / London 2012 Organising Committee
Crowd planning and simulation have been fundamental to the development of the masterplan and detailed design of the Olympic Park, including:
- the location of venues
- the number and size of the temporary and permanent bridges
- the size and shape of the Common Domain
- the layout of the temporary event overlay
- security screening design and operation
- Olympic and Paralympic Village operations and transport.
The benefits have been to demonstrate in advance how the Games will work: creating more sustainable venues and infrastructure, and a better Games experience for visitors.
Movement Strategies has worked for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA)in the production of credible crowd plans and demand forecasting since 2006 and subsequently for the Olympic Park for the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG). As well as input to design we have played a major role in developing design standards and ticket strategies. Since 2007 we have helped the ODA plan transport operations at the major stations serving the Games.
