Tottenham Hotspur Football Club
Client: Tottenham Hotspur
Our role:
Movement Strategies provided crowd movement and transport planning advice to Tottenham Hotspur and its design team regarding match-day crowd movement for the development of its new 56,250-seat stadium.
What we brought to the project:
During design development and in support of the Planning Application submitted in October, 2010 Movement Strategies provided the following services:
- Forecasts of matchday crowd movements in and around the site, and to/from the local rail stations
- Crowd simulations of matchday ingress, egress and emergency evacuation to help design for various masterplan and stadium configurations
- Capacity analysis of local transport networks in the light of future demand
Our work was used to:
- Inform the layout of the Masterplan including the footprint available for supporting commercial development
- Inform the size and design of Stadium entrance and exit routes
- Inform the walkway widths for matchday flows within the wider Masterplan area
- Support stakeholder engagement with design and heritage agencies
- Support discussions with local authorities, key transport providers, and the Emergency Services
- Input into the Transport Assessment needed for planning
- The benefits were to help Deliver planning approval for the Scheme, and to increase the commercial opportunity for development, while ensuring a safe stadium.
