Waterloo Station
Client: Network Rail
Movement Strategies was commissioned by Network Rail to assess and recommend options for the queuing system within the Ticket Office at Waterloo station – the UK’s busiest mainline station. This was as a result of a change to the locations of the entry and exit to the Ticket Office as a result of the current work to re-configure the concourse. Having generated and reviewed several options with Network Rail and South West Trains, a recommended layout was adopted that allows the Ticket Office to operate efficiently whilst maximising the use of available queuing space.
Continuing on from the design work for the Ticket Office, Movement Strategies is now helping to review emerging management plans at the station during the Olympic Games .
This extends our existing work for Network Rail and its partner TOCs at London Bridge, St Pancras International and at Stratford Regional Station, which is next to the Olympic Park and will be Britain’s busiest during the Games.
This work also means that during 2011 Movement Strategies will have worked on 3 of the 5 busiest mainline stations in the UK, with a combined annual footfall of over 250 million passengers per year.
