Wembley Stadium
Client: Wembley National Stadium Limited
Our role:
As well as football, the world-famous Wembley National Stadium hosts major concerts for renowned artists. Movement Strategies undertook a programme of research on crowd movement on behalf of Wembley using High Definition video, people counting systems and other technologies.
As part of the work our team observed crowd movement at the 2011 Take That concerts, and the 2010 Muse and Green Day concerts, and studied footage and data from the previous ones. This research into the behaviour and movement of the high density crowds during concerts has helped to ensure Wembley stays at the forefront of best practice in delivering crowd safety and comfort for concert-goers.
In addition to the research, Movement Strategies assessed the impacts of the potential removal of Lozenges in terms of the risks to crowd safety, and to demonstrate the performance of the venue with and without Lozenges using LEGION simulations.
