We undertake risk assessments for crowded places, including some of the world’s largest and most high-profile public buildings, events, and the transport facilities serving them. Much of our work is confidential but risk assessment clients/projects that can be listed include the Glastonbury Festival, Network Rail, the Chinese Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, the London 2012 Organising Committee and the Olympic Delivery Authority in London.

The assessments include risks to crowd safety, the risk of the place not working as intended, and ultimately the risk to the reputation of the facility, operator and other stakeholders. Our approach is based on our unique combined expertise in crowd dynamics, simulation modelling techniques and risk assessment methods.

Following the risk assessment we work with our client to develop actions to manage the risks, for example, by changing designs or operations plans and emergency procedures. For some new build projects the risk assessment has been used to set out design principles.
