Movement Strategies - Risk assessment services
  • Assessing Risks in Crowded Conditions
  • Understanding Human Behaviour
  • Design and Operational Risks
  • Development of Risk-Mitigation Measures

We are frequently involved in risk assessments for crowded places. This includes assessing the risks to crowd safety, the risk of the place not working as intended, and ultimately the risk to the reputation of the architect, operator or organiser.

Movement Strategies has delivered risk assessments for operators, architects, and emergency services for some of the world’s largest and most high-profile public buildings, events, and the transport facilities serving them.

Much of our work is confidential but clients/projects that can be listed include the Glastonbury Festival, Network Rail, the Chinese Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, and the Olympic Delivery Authority in London.

Our approach is based on our unique combined expertise in crowd dynamics, simulation modelling techniques and risk assessment methods.

Following the risk assessment we work with our client to develop actions to manage the risks.

The outcomes of our risk assessment work have been used to define design principles for new buildings and public spaces as well as refining operations plans and emergency procedures.
