An extract from the ITE article: Data-Based Transit Facility Planning - Institute of Transportation Engineers

By ITE, 13th September 2021

This webinar explores a data-driven approach to holistic facility design of transit exchanges and facilities. GHD and Movement Strategies architects, planners, and engineers will discuss how their 'human-centric' methodology to facility design capitalizes on actual pedestrian movements and desire paths to create successful, robust, and efficient stations and exchanges.

Brendan Texeira from GHD will discuss the holistic process model of data, behavioral science, and pedestrian modelling to generally inform a facility's footprint, layout, and circulation patterns to best effect. Dorota Konieczna and Simon Ancliffe from Movement Strategies will discuss their experience bringing this methodology to life with past and current facility designs. The presentation will include the many associated benefits of this approach and challenges of COVID-19 impacts and data.
